The road into Great Sand Dunes
The arrival at entrance
Campground views. Ellen contemplating hike up the Dunes and
running her mouth about how "easy" it looks
Start of the hike up the Dunes, the tallest sand dunes in North America
Jim leading the way. His best feature- his backside!
Desert sunflowers
The dunes are so vast and you have to zig zag to get to
the top. It is a 700 foot gain in elevation but is somewhat
strenuous because you are already starting out at over 8000 ft from camp.
Swirls in the drifting sand
Ellen thinking it's not so easy now!
Almost there
At the top!
