This post is about Monday, our 48th day into the trip.
We left Bandon, OR early in the morning due to heavy rain in the forecast and wanted to be packed up and on the road before it started. Got on the road at 9:30am just as the rain was getting heavy so the decision to get going fast was a good one.
It rained very hard with high winds most of the drive and instead making one more overnight stay in Oregon we just kept on going into Northern California to get to Redwood National Park. Our last stop planned for Oregon was only 85 miles away on the OR/CA border, but resetting-up everything in the rain and wind simply was not appealing. The weather looked better the further South we could go so we continued on.
We did miss a lot of viewpoints and one more State Park on the beach but with the weather we couldn't see anything anyway.
Arrived at the Redwoods National Park area mid-afternoon and after setting up "camp" we took off for a State Park (Patrick's Point) for hikes to about 5 different ocean viewing areas and one trip down the cliffs to the beach - Agate Beach. We did actally find agate's. The weather was still a little "misty" and cloudy but the actual rain had stopped.
The pictures tell the story.
