Day 7

209 mile drive today to get from Great Sand Dunes to Mesa Verde National Park.  Seemed like it took forever as we went up and down mountain passes as high as 10,800 feet in altitude.

Checked out the camping in Mesa Verde and it "sucked" so we went to an RV park 1 mile from the entrance.  No one but a few dozen of 400 campsites were occupied.  Not sure what to expect tomorrow when we actually visit the parks archaeological sites.  Supposed to be great but whatever it is it sure isn't attracting campers.  We'll withhold judgement until tomorrow.

We can't seem to get away from the high temperatures.  Pushing 90 today and we are in the mountains!
One or two more days here then off to Moab, but the temps there are in the 90's.

Our excitement for today was to drive into the town of Cortez and wash the car, fill a prescription, and eat some Mexican food.

We have a few more good pictures from Great Sand Dunes to post and will do so tomorrow.  Our first pictures of Mesa Verde will be a day later.  Just not enough time to do it all the day it happens.

One week out and no one is sick, nothing has broken, and we still have Isabelle.

Life is good!
