Day 3

We knew it was going to be hot today, but not as hot as it got - 105!!!!
Kansas was part of the hot wave but looked liked we would avoid the worst by driving West.  Wrong!
It was brutal driving.  So hot the RV generator kept shutting off due to overheating so we could not keep the "cabin" temp comfortable for Issy.  We had the vehicle AC going to help us, but not much help for our daughter.

Anyway, we drove 400 miles (now 1275 total) to get to a KOA park in Colorado City, CO.  It's about 20 miles south of Pueblo, CO.  Not our intended destination but due to a road closure we had to change our plans for the night.  As we always say - we do not like RV parks, but had no good alternatives today.  It's ok, but tomorrow we will continue on to Great Sand Dunes National Park as planned - just via a 75 mile detour.

The good news for us is that it is in the lower 80's here in the foothills of the Rockies - we drove far enough west to get cool.
Still have not taken any pictures to share, but now in view of the mountains and should get into some good "stuff" tomorrow.
Promise more soon.
